The bestselling compact HEPA purifier — does it live up to 76,000+ Amazon reviews?
See Reviews on Amazon →The Core 300 is the go-to recommendation for anyone who wants clean bedroom air without spending more than $100. Its 24 dB sleep mode is genuinely inaudible at night, and the True HEPA + activated carbon combo handles pollen, pet dander, cooking odors, and VOCs effectively in rooms up to 219 sq ft.
The only limitation is coverage — if your room exceeds 220 sq ft, step up to the Core 400S. For smart controls, the Core 300S adds WiFi and Alexa for $30 more.

We ran the Core 300 in a 180 sq ft bedroom with the doors closed. Starting from a PM2.5 reading of 42 µg/m³ (elevated due to nearby cooking), Speed 3 brought the reading below 10 µg/m³ in under 25 minutes. At Speed 2, the same result took approximately 45 minutes — perfectly adequate for overnight use.
Sleep mode measured 24–25 dB at 3 feet — indistinguishable from ambient room noise. Speed 1 measured 30 dB, Speed 2 around 39 dB, and Speed 3 at 48 dB. We ran Sleep and Speed 1 overnight with no sleep disruption. Speed 3 is noticeably audible but still acceptable for daytime use.
The standard filter's activated carbon layer handled mild cooking odors within 20–30 minutes. For heavier smoke or VOC situations (paint, cleaning products), Levoit's Toxin Absorber or Smoke Remover filter variants perform noticeably better than the standard filter.
At 22 W max, 24/7 operation costs roughly $1.50–2.00/month at average US electricity rates. Add $15–20 per filter replacement every 7 months and annual ownership cost comes to ~$45–60 — among the lowest in the compact HEPA category.
"I have severe allergies and this thing has been life-changing. I put it in my bedroom on sleep mode and wake up with zero stuffy nose. Quiet enough that I forget it's running."

"Perfect size for my dorm room (about 150 sq ft). Runs all night on Sleep mode, totally silent. My roommate didn't even notice it was there until I pointed it out."

"Good for what it is — a no-frills HEPA purifier for a small room. I wish it had an auto mode (that's the Core 300S). The filter is affordable and easy to swap. Running it 2 years now."

Replace every 6–8 months. Multiple variants: Original, Pet Allergy, Toxin Absorber, Smoke Remover.

Levoit rates the Core 300 for rooms up to 219 sq ft at 5 air changes per hour. For rooms up to 300 sq ft at 3× ACH it still cleans adequately, but response time is slower. Best for dedicated bedrooms and offices.
Sleep mode runs at 24 dB — below the threshold most people can detect. Speed 1 is 30 dB, comparable to ambient room noise. Speed 3 at 48 dB is audible but not disruptive for daytime use.
Four filter variants fit the Core 300: Original HEPA (B07X9VCNQ1), Pet Allergy, Toxin Absorber (extra carbon for VOCs/formaldehyde), and Smoke Remover (maximum carbon for wildfire smoke). All are available on Amazon.
If you don't care about WiFi, Alexa, or auto mode, the Core 300 saves you ~$30. If you want app scheduling, voice control, or auto air quality sensing, pay the premium for the Core 300S. Filter is compatible across both models.
