In-Depth Review · Updated May 2024
Everything the Core 300 does — plus WiFi, Alexa, Auto Mode, and real-time air quality sensing.
See Reviews on Amazon →The Core 300S is the smart upgrade over the base Core 300. The $30 premium buys you WiFi, Alexa voice control, a built-in PM2.5 air quality sensor, and Auto Mode that adjusts fan speed based on current air quality. If you want to forget the purifier exists and have it work in the background, the 300S is worth the upgrade.
Coverage stays at 219 sq ft — for larger rooms see the Core 400S.

We burned toast intentionally and the Core 300S ramped from Speed 1 to Speed 3 within 15 seconds of detecting smoke. After the air cleared (about 8 minutes), it stepped back down to Speed 1. The PM2.5 sensor is responsive and the Auto Mode logic is aggressive in the right way — it doesn't wait.
VeSync app setup took under 3 minutes on 2.4 GHz WiFi. The app shows current AQI, fan speed, historical air quality graph (last 7 days), filter life percentage, and scheduling controls. Alexa skill activation was standard — "Alexa, enable VeSync" and say the device name.
Identical noise profile to the Core 300: 24 dB sleep mode, 48 dB max. Sleep mode is inaudible at bedside. Auto Mode in Sleep mode ramps up when it detects particles but returns quickly, minimizing disturbance.
"The auto mode is the reason to buy the 300S over the regular 300. It cranks up automatically when I cook and then dials back down. I don't have to think about it at all."

"I set a schedule via the app to run on high from 8am–noon when pollen is worst and then drop to sleep mode overnight. Set-and-forget. My allergy symptoms are noticeably better."

"Good purifier and the Alexa integration works fine. One thing: 2.4 GHz only, so if your router is 5 GHz-only make sure you have a 2.4 band too. Other than that, very happy."

Replace every 6–8 months. Note: NOT cross-compatible with Core 300 filter.

If you want app scheduling, Auto Mode, and voice control — yes. The PM2.5 sensor and Auto Mode alone justify the upgrade for most users. If you prefer simple manual controls and want to save money, the Core 300 is excellent.
No. The Core 300S works as a standalone purifier with physical button controls even without WiFi. WiFi unlocks the app, scheduling, Auto Mode, and voice control — but the purifier functions normally offline.
ASIN B09G3DLYZN. Not cross-compatible with the Core 300 filter (B07X9VCNQ1). See our filter replacement guide for a full compatibility table.
Auto Mode respects the Sleep speed floor — even when triggered by a PM2.5 spike it rarely exceeds Speed 2 in a clean bedroom. You can also lock it to Sleep mode in the app for uninterrupted overnight use.
